What Is Paint Correction?

Paint correction is the process of safely removing defects from the top layer of your car's paintwork — the clear coat — using machine polishing. Rather than masking swirls and scratches with fillers, paint correction physically levels the clear coat so light reflects evenly again, giving a true, deep gloss.

It's a skilled, measured process: we measure paint depth, inspect the finish under specialist lighting, and work through carefully chosen polish and pad combinations to correct defects without compromising the paint.

What Machine Polishing Does

Machine polishing uses a rotating or oscillating polisher with abrasive compounds to remove a microscopic layer of the clear coat — just enough to flatten out scratches and swirls so they disappear. A single-stage enhancement removes most defects and dramatically improves gloss; a multi-stage correction goes further, tackling deeper defects for a near-perfect finish.

Every stage is refined down to a finishing polish that leaves the paint mirror-flat and ready for protection.

Common Paint Defects We Correct

Swirl Marks

Those circular, spider-web-like marks you see in bright light are fine scratches in the clear coat, usually caused by incorrect washing and drying. Machine polishing levels the clear coat so they disappear.

Fine Scratches

Light scratches from brushes, hedges or careless contact can be polished out where they haven't penetrated the clear coat. Deeper scratches are assessed individually — we'll always be honest about what can and can't be safely corrected.

Oxidation

Paint fades and dulls over time as UV exposure breaks down the clear coat, especially on older or unprotected cars. Correction removes the oxidised layer to restore the original colour and depth.

Paint Dullness

Even without visible scratches, paint can lose its clarity and reflection over time. A single-stage enhancement brings back the depth and wet-look gloss that makes a car look freshly finished.

Gloss Enhancement

Gloss enhancement is the result of properly corrected paint. Once swirls and fine scratches are removed, light reflects evenly off the flat clear coat, giving a deep, wet-look finish that wax alone can't achieve. It's the difference between a car that looks 'clean' and one that looks truly flawless.

Why Paint Correction Matters Before Ceramic Coating

A ceramic coating locks in whatever finish sits beneath it — it doesn't hide defects, it magnifies them. That's why every one of our ceramic coating packages includes single or multi-stage paint correction first, so the paint is flawless before the coating is applied.

Skipping correction and coating over swirls means locking those swirls in for the life of the coating. Doing it properly means years of protection over a finish that looks genuinely perfect.

Before & After Results

The difference paint correction makes is dramatic and visible — dull, swirled paint becomes deep, glossy and reflective.
